Larval ecology

While the biting adults get all the attention, the conditions aquatic larvae experience influence adult mosquito life history, including longevity and their ability to vector pathogens. I have a long standing interest in studying what happens in these communities and how that carries over to the terrestrial habitat.

These communities are easily replicated microcosms rife with competitors, predators, and parasites with short generation times making them ideal for asking basic and applied ecological questions.
